…기 때문에 because  …

*[…] is the infinitive stem of the verb or adjective

*Noun때문에 because of Noun

 

그는 열심히 공부하기 때문에 나중에 성공할 거예요.

Because he studies hard, he will succeed later. 

 

그녀는 친구들에게 인기있기 때문에 많은 친구들이 그녀의 파티에 올 거예요.  Because she is popular with friends, many friends will come to her party.  

 

선생님께서 잘 가르치시기 때문에 숙제를 열심히 해야 해요. 

I need to do my homework diligently because my teacher teaches well. 

 

서로 다른 습관 때문에 함께 못 살아요. 

They can’t live together because of their different habit.

 

 

…기로 약속해요 promise to…

 

그녀에게 이번주 토요일에 낚시 가기로 약속했어요. 

I promised her to go fishing this Saturday.

 

숙제를 하기로 약속할 수 있어요? 

Can you promise me to do your homework?

 

그녀는 열심히 공부하기로 약속했어요. 

She promised to study hard.

그들이 행복하기를 희망해요. I hope that they are happy.

기분이 나쁘다 to feel bad, to be offended, to be offensive

Antonym) 기분이 좋다 to feel great, to be happy

 

그런 발언은 어떤 사람들에게는 기분이 나쁠 수 있으니까 조심하세요.

Please be careful since such remarks can be offensive to certain people.

 

그 사람이 저에게 왜 그런 행동을 했는지 아직도 이해할 수 없어요. 기분이 많이 나쁘네요. I still can’t understand why that person behaved such way to me. I am very offended.

 

 

기분 전환하다to change of mood, to refresh oneself

기분 전환으로 for a change of mood.

Synonym) 바람 쐬다

 

기분 전환으로 산책하러 갔다 올게요. 

I will go for a walk for a change of mood and will be back.

 

기분 전환으로 자동차를 운전하고 싶어요. I want to go for a drive for a change of mood.

 

 

기분이 좋다 to be glad, to be happy, to feel great

 

친구들과 이렇게 이야기하니까 기분이 좋아요.

I’m happy when I talk with my friends like this.

 

분위기 있는 식당에 가서 좋은 사람들과 맛있는 음식을 먹으니까 기분이 좋아요.

I feel happy when I go to a restaurant with a nice atmosphere and enjoy delicious food with good company.
